Article
Toronto, Ontario — October 28, 2026 — The Punjabi Chamber of Commerce (PCC) Canada today announced that Upasana Sharma, Past President of TiE Toronto and a Global Board Trustee of TiE Global, has joined its Strategic Advisory Council.
Upasana is a lawyer turned investor. She is Co-Managing Partner at Tangentia Ventures and invests alongside Keiretsu Forum and VANTEC. She serves on the Global Advisory Board of the Evolve Silicon Valley Foundation. Before moving into venture, she practised law at Lerners LLP. She holds an LLM from the University of Toronto, was a MacArthur Foundation Scholar, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013.
PCC members may recognise her from Belong Gala 2026 in May, where she joined the panel "Who Wins the Next Economy? Ownership, Technology, and Power."
Why it matters
PCC started with 25 people in a room in Brampton. More than 2,500 people have attended a PCC event since, and the share of women in our rooms has gone from about one in ten to nearly half. The Chamber now hosts socials across its cities, creating opportunities for people to connect, and is building programs for members beyond events, including HR support, mentorship and access to capital.
The Strategic Advisory Council advises PCC's leadership on strategy, partnerships and growth. Upasana brings a founder's-eye view of capital, a lawyer's approach to governance, and a network that reaches across Canada's startup community and TiE's global chapters.
"Upasana has spent her career helping founders reach capital, good advice and the right rooms. A chamber that wants to outlast any one of us needs people who have built institutions before. We're glad to have her at the table."
— Harsimran Grewal, President, Punjabi Chamber of Commerce Canada
"In a short time, PCC has built a real community of entrepreneurs and professionals, with real structure behind it. I'm looking forward to helping it grow, and to connecting more of its founders with the people and networks that help businesses scale."
— Upasana Sharma
